5 Tips for Sexual Health

Here, at the Badd Kitty blog, we take sexual health seriously, and encourage you to make it a priority as well. Listed below are 5 simple ways you can make your sexual health a priority.

1) Never ignore your body, especially when you are experiencing pain. One of the most important things to know about your sexual health is that you know yourself better than anyone. You must be aware of the changes in your body, especially if you notice pain. This is the first line of defense in keeping yourself in top sexual health.

2) Be your own advocate with your health care provider. Now that you are tuned into your body, take your concerns to your health care provider. If you are experiencing symptoms, that is only half the story. You should follow through with any symptoms or pain as soon as possible, and follow through with whatever treatment plan is prescribed by your provider.

3) Get screenings and understand your results. Beyond taking care of any symptoms or pain you may or may not be experiencing, regular screenings are vital to health. Getting pap tests, pelvic exams, and prostate exams are an important part of continued sexual health. Not only should you be getting regular screening, but make sure you understand your results. Take the time to ask your health care provider to go over the results carefully so that you understand the results and their impact on your sexual health. This followthrough to understand your results and their effect is just as important as the screenings themselves.

4) Be your own advocate in the bedroom. Now that you have your sexual health worked out medically, it’s time to move onto the actual act. Communicate your needs and really listen to the needs of your partner or partners. Every sexual encounter should start with consent. Every good sexual encounter should begin with communication. Taking control of your own sexual pleasure is your responsibility. You should also always listen to the needs and desires of your partner or partners to make sure they are getting pleasure as well.

5) Remember to enjoy yourself. All of the effort you put into your sexual health and wellbeing is important, but do not lose sight of the reason why. The point of sex is to enjoy yourself and experience the pleasure of what your body can feel, and how you and your partner or partners can pleasure each other. Relax and enjoy your sexual experiences, and do not be afraid to explore your own sexual appetites safe in the knowledge that you are improving your overall health by letting your sex life be healthy and enjoyable.

Taking control of your sexual health and enjoyment is one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself. The rewards of a healthy and satisfying sex life far outweigh the time and effort it takes to look after your sexual health.
