Beginner Kink

A little kink can go a long way. Wanting to shake things up in the bedroom and exploring your kinks and fantasies can open up a whole new world of excitement and pleasure. Not everyone wants to jump in the deep end of the kink pool. For those of you wanting to ease in, here are a few jumping off points to introducing just a little bit of kink into your sex life. As with any sexual situation, talk to your partner about consent, limits, and safe words before you begin. Communication is always sexy.

  • Blindfolds

Blindfolding is a great entry point for beginner kink. Wearing a blindfold to deprive yourself or your partner of sight heightens your other senses. It can also heighten your anticipation of what is coming next. This creates a new level of excitement during sex.

  • Food

Having a little bite is fine, but food can add a new level of sensuality. Food and sex go hand in hand, as we have discussed in our previous article A Sexy Little Snack. The tastes, textures, and sensations of different foods can compliment sex before, during, and after.

  • Bondage

Bondage is a deep and complicated subject, and far too much to go into for our beginner kink purposes. In this article we will just talk about a little light bondage. Tying of hands or legs, either to each other or to the bed is a good entry point to light bondage. Start with something you have on hand, like nylon or the tie from a robe. Consent and safeguards become very important here, so be in constant communication with your partner when delving into this realm of kink.

  • Spanking

Much like bondage, impact play is a wide subject. Today we are only talking about a little light spanking. Keep the strikes light to begin with, and always start with only your hand and get a feel of what you and your partner like before graduating up to objects like a hair brush or a paddle. It is also important to stick to the more "fatty" parts of the body like the buttocks, and avoid bones like the tailbone, spine, or joints. For more information see our article on Impact Play

  • Role Play

Role play is one of the most common kinks. It can sometimes be awkward, or even silly,to start, but role play is a great way to act out your fantasies. Start out by talking about what scenarios you find hot. Maybe you want to act out a scene from a movie or book. This is also a great way to take things out of the bedroom. According to how elaborate you want to get, you could start the fantasy out on the town. Maybe you could "meet" at a bar and pick up your partner as a new character. Get creative.

Getting started with a little light kink can benefit your sex life. Open your mind to the possibilities for you and your partner to find a new kink to explore.
