Bodysuit or teddy: what is the difference?
Both are one-piece garments that cover the torso and close between the legs. A bodysuit is cut to be worn as a top, so it usually has more coverage, sleeves or a high neck, and a snap or hook-and-eye crotch you can open without undressing. A teddy is the lingerie version: sheer lace or mesh, thin straps, a high-cut leg and often a thong back. Our women's bodysuits collection holds both, about 45 in-stock styles, because people search for one and buy the other.

How a bodysuit should fit
Torso length matters more than your usual size. If a one-piece pulls down on your shoulders or digs in at the leg, the torso is too short, so size up or choose a style with adjustable straps. Mapale and Oh La La Cherie sell in paired sizes (S/M, L/XL); Dreamgirl and Fantasy Lingerie add queen and 1X/2X to 3X/4X cuts, and about 17 of the in-stock styles are plus size. Underwire styles, like the Mapale long sleeve and the Coquette satin teddy, should be chosen by bust; unlined lace teddies have more stretch. Check which closure you are buying: Leg Avenue's fishnet bodysuit snaps at the crotch, while the Mapale leather-and-lace pieces use hook-and-eye.
Care
Hand wash in cold water, close hooks first so they do not catch lace, and lay flat to dry. Never tumble dry stretch lace or elastane; heat is what makes a bodysuit lose its shape.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a bodysuit and a teddy?
Both are one-piece garments that close between the legs. A bodysuit is cut to wear as a top, with more coverage and often sleeves; a teddy is the lingerie version, usually sheer lace or mesh with thin straps and a high-cut leg.
How should a bodysuit fit?
It should lie flat without pulling on your shoulders or digging in at the leg. If it does either, the torso is too short for you, so size up or choose a style with adjustable straps.
How do you go to the bathroom in a bodysuit?
Open the crotch closure. Most bodysuits fasten with snaps or hook-and-eye at the crotch, for example Leg Avenue's fishnet bodysuit snaps and the Mapale leather-and-lace styles hook, so you never have to take the whole piece off.
Can you wear a lingerie bodysuit as a top?
Yes. Lace, long sleeve and leather-look bodysuits work with a skirt, jeans or an open blazer. Sheer mesh and fishnet styles look best layered over a bralette.
Is a lingerie bodysuit the same as shapewear?
No. Shapewear uses compression panels to smooth the body under clothes. Our bodysuits are fashion and lingerie pieces in lace, mesh and satin with no compression.
Do you carry plus size bodysuits?
Yes. Dreamgirl, Fantasy Lingerie, Escante and Mapale make teddies and bodysuits in queen and 1X/2X to 3X/4X, and the plus size lingerie collection gathers them.
