Hybrid Lube
Hybrid lube blends water and a little silicone for a creamy feel that lasts longer than water-based: Wicked Simply Hybrid, Sliquid Silk, Pjur Hybrid Toy Lube and Sensuva Hybrid.
What a hybrid lube does
Hybrid lubricant is mostly water with a small amount of silicone added. The result is a creamy, almost lotion-like texture that lasts longer than plain water-based lube, feels closer to natural lubrication, and still washes off easily. The small silicone content is low enough that most people use hybrids with silicone toys without trouble, though a patch test on the base of an expensive toy is sensible. Wicked's Simply Timeless adds aloe, olive leaf and vitamin E and is marketed for dryness-prone and menopausal skin.

How it compares
If you want maximum slip and staying power for anal sex, silicone lube still wins. If you want the lightest, most toy-friendly option, go water-based. Hybrid is the middle path for couples who find water-based dries too quickly but do not want silicone on their toys. Wicked, Sliquid, Pjur and Sensuva all make hybrids here; see the whole range in lube and lubricants and read how to use lube for application tips.

Frequently asked questions
What is hybrid lube?
A personal lubricant that is mostly water-based with a small percentage of silicone added for a creamier, longer-lasting glide. It washes off like a water-based lube.
Is hybrid lube safe with silicone toys?
Usually yes, because the silicone content is low, but patch-test on an inconspicuous part of the toy first. If in doubt use a pure water-based lube.
Is hybrid lube safe with condoms?
Yes, hybrid lubes are compatible with latex condoms.
Hybrid or silicone lube for anal?
Silicone lasts longer; a thick hybrid such as Wicked Simply Hybrid Jelle is the better choice if you are using silicone anal toys.
