Chemises & Slips
Chemises and slips cut to hang straight and feel like silk: satin chemises, lace-trim slips and garter slips from Dreamgirl, Escante and Roma in S to 3X/4X and queen.
How to choose a chemise
A chemise is a short slip that hangs from the shoulders in a straight or lightly shaped line. It is the piece to buy if babydolls feel too costume and teddies feel too committed. Satin chemises are smooth, opaque and the easiest to sleep in. Lace-trim and mesh chemises are sheerer and more obviously lingerie. Garter slips have built-in straps for stockings, so one piece does the work of two. Corset-back and zipper styles add structure. Chemises run S to XL and 1X to 3X, with 1X/2X, 3X/4X and queen in several styles.

Frequently asked questions
What is a chemise?
A chemise is a short, loose slip-style nightdress that hangs straight from thin shoulder straps, usually in satin, lace or sheer mesh. It is worn as lingerie or sleepwear.
How do you pronounce chemise?
Shuh-MEEZ, with the stress on the second syllable. The word is French and the final s is silent.
What is the difference between a chemise and a slip?
A slip is an undergarment worn beneath a dress to smooth it; a chemise is the same shape worn on its own as lingerie or sleepwear, with lace, mesh or satin detailing meant to show.
Can you wear a chemise with stockings?
Yes. Choose a garter slip, which has stocking straps built in, or add a separate garter belt under any chemise.
Do chemises come in plus sizes?
Yes. Dreamgirl, Escante and Roma cut chemises in 1X to 3X, 1X/2X, 3X/4X and queen.
